This week's program highlighted the significance of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the 'Laylat-al-Qadr' or 'Shab-e-Qadr' meaning the Night of Power, marking the anniversary of the night Muslims believe the first verses of the Qur'an were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It presented: (1) information on Ramadan and the holy night for children by Ayesha Samah Sheikh, (2) recitation from Holy Quaran by Maisha Safa and Rubaiat Mollika Mollik, and (3) interview with Ms. Diana Abdur Rahman, founder and presenter of Australian Muslim Voice Radio FM 103.1. The two beautiful songs 'tri bhuboner prio muhammad' and 'romjaner oi rojar sheshe elo khushir eid' played in the program were sung by Bangladeshi singers. This week's program was produced and presented by Raquibul Sheikh.
This week’s program presented a very informative discussion on political and economic future of Bangladesh, which is challenged by a combination of factors including the country's political violence, weak governance, poverty, corruption and Islamist militancy. It interviewed Advocate Tarana Halim, Member of Bangladesh Parliament, who is currently in Canberra on a personal visit, about her government’s policy to overcome these obstacles and maintain country’s economic growth and political stability. The beautiful Nazrul song ‘khelichho e bishwa loye’ played in the program was sung by popular Indian singer Anup Jalota. This week’s program was produced and presented by Ajoy Kar.
This week’s program highlighted the recent Bangladeshi scientists' success in decoding the genome sequence of jute that opened up new opportunities in the development of the country's golden fibre. It presented (1) interview with Dr. Abed Chaudhury, expatriate Bangladeshi scientist of genomics residing in Canberra, about 'swapnojaatra' (www.jutegenome.org), the jute genome sequencing project in Bangladesh and his contribution towards it, and (2) recordings of Dr. Maksudul Alam, expatriate Bangladeshi scientist of genomics and Chief Investigator of the jute genome sequencing project describing his experience and the future of the project. The beautiful song 'dhono dhan-ney pushpe bhora' played in the program was sung by Bangladeshi singer Manoshi Sadhu. This week’s program was produced and presented by Ehsan Ullah.
This week’s program was presented in two parts. (1) The first part celebrated Friendship Day observed on 1st August by interviewing three friends what they understand by 'friendship'. The friends interviewed were Ms. Alice Harvey, Ms. Monica Li, and Mr. Velo Petrov representing three different ethnic groups. (2) The second part presented a discussion on the forthcoming Federal Election to be held on 21 August 2010. It highlighted the policies and promises of the two major parties and the views of two Bangladeshi expatriates - Dr. Kamal Uddin and Dr. Mohammed Mainuddin. The beautiful song 'hotath rastaye' played in the program was sung by Bangladeshi singer Kabir Sumon. This week’s program was produced and presented by Shamsuddin Shafi.
